The Urban Greening Project is one of our flagship initiatives aimed at transforming Dhaka into a healthier, more sustainable mega-city. By planting millions of trees along urban highways, public parks, residential areas, and riverbanks, we aim to combat the rising temperatures caused by the urban heat island effect and restore the city's depleted green cover.
Dhaka has experienced rapid urbanization over the last few decades, leading to a significant loss of trees and natural ecosystems. This project actively counters this loss by engaging local communities, schools, corporate sponsors, and volunteers in mass tree-planting events.
Key Objectives & Milestones
- Plant 15,000 native tree saplings across Dhaka highways and parks.
- Recruit and coordinate over 300 active local youth volunteers.
- Partner with 15 local schools to create educational green zones.
- Implement smart water management systems for planted areas.
- Reduce local dust and carbon concentrations in pilot zones by 12%.
- Establish long-term maintenance partnerships with city corporations.
